Description:
This painting was a part of the Pride Day collection presented at the Museum of Discovery and Science, Family Pride Day (Sat. Jun 24, 2023), made with oil paint. Lauren Esposito comes from a family of scientists. She is an arachnologist, a person who studies spiders, ticks, mites, and/or scorpions. She is the first openly queer curator at the California Academy of Sciences, in San Francisco, one of the most gay-friendliest cities in America. She believes that queer visibility is incredibly important, because it lets others know that they are not alone. As a result, she started a visibility campaign called 500 Queer Scientists to raise awareness of people's identities in both STEM and the LBGTQ+ community.
